Degrassi - Season 14 (2014-2015)

This post is going to contain spoilers for this season, and possibly later seasons if I make references to future events.

 Life Can Change Forever

Smells Like Teen Spirit

Becky starts a Power Cheer team to take her mind off of her brother, but Zoe wanting to join makes that impossible. Zoe also wants to join to move on from the trial, so uh oh. Well, Becky tells her she doesn't make it because she'll be a distraction. But Karma. Becky is distracted, gets injured, and opens up a spot for Zoe.

Clare tells Alli that she's pregnant, Drew is the father, and she's scheduled an abortion. Clare also tells Drew who is shocked because they did use protection, but it's not 100%. He's also not the father anyway. Oh, and she gets into Columbia and immediately starts bleeding. It's not her period, but possible side effects from cancer. It might be a miracle that she's even pregnant.

Miles and Tristan are officially dating, and Mr. Hollingsworth thinks it's some stunt to ruin his campaign. But what might actually ruin the campaign is when Miles tells a reporter that the last piece of advice his dad gave him was that "being gay is ridiculous." Burn.

Wise Up

Miles is expecting the worst from his father once his interview is published. Instead, he takes him to practice driving and play golf. It's not the bonding experience that Miles hoped it was when the press appears. Then things get physical when they get home, so he goes back to school where Tristan feels like Miles was using him to piss off his dad. So, how does it all end? Miles gets two new cars to choose from and invites Tristan to dinner.

Zoe needs to come up with fundraising ideas for the cheer team and sees that Zig has lots of girls in his phone. Not the best start to her new beginning. Zig asks Grace how to make it better, but then Zoe sends him naked photos.

Drew confides in Dallas that Clare is pregnant and he's going to be a father in a few months. Then he goes to Clare and lets her know that they're going to have to get married, which she objects to, so he asks her what the plan is. She says he doesn't have to be involved, but after talking to Dallas, he changes his mind. Becky dumps him.

If You Could Only See

The entire family walks in on Frankie with a shirtless Winston. It was totally innocent, but it sparks something no-so innocent. A fundraising idea for Power Cheer. Sell nudie photos! Frankie doesn't want to do it, but Zoe threatens her. Zoe who should know better since she just had a trial where two creeps went to jail for child pornography!

Becky is down and is sick of it. Imogen and Jack help her set up a dating profile, but they fill it out as her old self. She gets a 100% match, but...meh. She gets back with Drew.

Maya is doing what she does best. Worry. About Miles. Who needs to be worried about.

Can't Stop This Thing We Started

Clare needs to tell her mom and Eli about her pregnancy, but can't find the right words. Eli is back from New York and wants to discuss their future, and Audra Torres also wants to talk about the future. Her mom and Audra dominate the conversation while Drew just sits there, and she feels like her wishes aren't being heard. She eventually gets to tell Eli, which does not go well at all. I feel so bad for everyone.

Zoe and Winston are lab partners and he's bouncing ideas off of her to get Miles and Tristan to breakup. She tells him to just talk to him. But teenage boys don't know how to talk about things and he blows up at Tristan instead.

Zig loses an arm wrestling contest to Grace! Now he wants to "prove" himself...by letting Grace give him a home tattoo! Danger danger danger! Of course, he doesn't go through with it. This is a fun, silly plot.

There's Your Trouble

Becky is still struggling with what he brother did to Zoe and tries to avoid it by joining a band. Of course, she doesn't get in because she doesn't have the right sound. Now she has nothing to do but think about him, so she caves and goes to visit him and tells him exactly how she's feeling. Good job, Becky.

Zoe is a total drill sergeant when it comes to power cheer. She wants them to execute daring stunts and continue their boob scheme. She's an amazing actress and manages to get her way, and also calls out Frankie for not "pulling her weight."

Eli starts working at The Dot and wants to reconcile with Clare. But he soon realizes that he doesn't want to be around Clare and Drew.

(You Drive Me) Crazy

Maya is struggling with nightmares about Miles and needs to get her mind off of him, so she goes to Zoe for a project. That definitely doesn't work once she has Grace hack his messages and he sent one to Tristan that said he wanted to kill himself. Maya is not going to take that lightly! Zig is such a good friend to her throughout this and encourages her to get help.

Imogen tells Jack that she loves her and gets a "thanks" in return. Then dumped when Jack says that she's not into monogamy. But Imogen pretends to be cool with polyamory. I always wished that Degrassi would do a polyamory plot line that lasted more than one episode. Imogen quickly realizes that she's not okay with Jack seeing another girl.

Frankie has no study buddies now that Lola and Shay have more cheer practices, so she tries to pair up with her twin. She winds up finding some pretty disturbing comics on his computer. She also discovers his crush. This episode has a cute ending, but knowing what's to come makes it not so cute...

I'll Be Missing You

Someone is threatening the Power Cheer team! They're going to expose their secret if they don't kick Zoe off the team. That doll was creepy. But Zoe finally has friends! She doesn't want to give that up for anything, even though posting naked photos of underage girls has some serious consequences.

Alli got into Cambridge University! Sadly, Dallas is not happy about it. He wants to romance her to convince her to stay. She turns out his hotel plan, because she doesn't want to have sex. Needless to say, Dalla is not happy about that either, since she is "Backwoods Bandhari." Rude. But he gets a confidence boost from Shay, and Alli walks in on them. They don't break up. Instead they TALK. Good job. Alli has come a long way.

Miles has been skipping school, and Winston blames Tristan, because obviously. Actually I still don't get why. That boy is clearly going through some things but Tristan didn't want to see it, and now he wants to fix it.

Hush

The girls are mad that Zoe kept the blackmail a secret, but she is determined to handle this. Grace traces the texts back to Hunter. He's such a creep, but it wasn't him. Too obvious.

Miles is confronted by Winston, Tristan, Frankie, and Hunter. They think he's addicted to weed (WTF). He lashes out at them, and is particularly awful to Tristan. Although he just said what we were all thinking. This all brings him back to Maya. The two "crazies" who get into a hit and run while Miles is high.

Becky and Jonah are working on a new song, which she is quite excited about. She tells Drew and he says that Jonah definitely likes her, which makes her awkward. This prompts Jonah to tell her about his past and how he's on the straight and narrow now. Drew promises not to be jealous, but he should.

Something's Got to Give

Imogen finds out about Degrassi Nudes and decides to investigate and accidentally leaks it to Mr. Simpson. Jack has to come clean about her involvement and Imogen accuses her of cheating. Of course, Imogen is upset about all of this. They talk it out though. I think they're super cute together.

Maya finds out that it was Dallas' car that Miles hit, but she does tell because she's afraid of his father hurting him. He tries talking to him first, but his dad is always one step ahead. Maya jumps in and lies for him, but his dad wants a full report with the police made. But Dallas overhears them, and it's all downhill. Miles is the worst and has Maya in an awful situation.

Drew is going to have dinner with Becky's grandmother, but he's suppose to go to a birthing class with Clare. Oops. He goes to the dinner and slips that he's going to be a father. Oops. Becky stands up for herself though, and Drew dumps her. But Clare learns that she's further along, so the baby is actually Eli's. Oops again.

Hero vs. Villain

Mr. Simpson asks the cheerleaders about Degrassi Nudes, and Zoe assures him that it wasn't them. She even offers to speak at the assembly about how she has photos spread about her in order to make the blackmailer less credible if he were to come forward again. She also learns that Hunter isn't behind the messages, assumes it's Frankie, and asks her back to the team. Only to take photos of her while she's changing. But the real blackmailer makes good on their promise and now the whole school knows.

Clare tells Alli that the baby is Eli's, who encourages her to tell Drew and Eli the truth. Clare is worried though. Alli makes the mistake of hinting to Dallas that Drew isn't the father. But Dallas telling Drew was the right thing, even if he didn't do it in the right way. At least Clare tells Eli herself, or tries to. Eli must have had a personality transplant. I know he's angry, but damn.

Tristan is trying to get Miles back despite the horrible things he said to him. He even sets up a "grand gesture" and essentially grovels, which I hated! Tristan didn't do anything wrong! Miles is awful! Winston also isn't helping the situation. I never realized how much I disliked Winston too.

Firestarter (1-2)

Miles tells Frankie to make sure she doesn't get blamed for Degrassi Nudes and ruin their dad's campaign. She tries to recruit Lola and Shay to her cause. Zoe won't go down without a fight though. A FaceRange page goes up blaming Frankie, and Winston assures her that it wasn't the blackmailer. He did it for her! I hate Winston. Zoe is certainly worse in this situation, but I love her. I feel so bad for Frankie! Her own father wants her to take responsibility for the whole mess so they can "control the narrative." Ew.

This plot also brings back Miles' abuse, as he tries to stand up for Frankie, but their father explodes in front of Hunter. That man is despicable. He goes to their mother and she doesn't believe it. Somehow this man flips it onto Miles, who believes it and decides to runaway. But then sets the school on fire by accident. Yeah, I know.

Zig and Tiny make a bet to be the first one get a cheerleader's number during the competition. This is just a silly little plot in the midst of extreme drama.

Clare is making plans for her future as a single mother after her secret gets out and then having a disturbing dream. This girl is always dreaming about the wrong dude! But then her plans get turned upside down again, when Imogen tells Eli and he comes running! She points out that his erratic behavior is not compatible with being a good father.

The Final Chapter

Watch Out Now

The school has been repaired, a new principal is in office, and new rules are in place. Yikes. At least no uniforms this time.

Becky and Jonah plan a lunchtime variety show and grow their feelings. Drew doesn't add it to the list because he's jealous, so Jack encourages Becky to play "nice." Being a boy, it works. Go, Becky! Well, she admits she doesn't like him afterward, so Drew claims that she and Jonah were making out which is not against the rules.

Zoe admits to being the Degrassi Nudes Madame, and is ostracized by the rest of the team. She's also being harassed by Damon during detention and needs to find a way to make him stop. Zig and Tiny stick up for her, which gets Tiny stabbed.

Winston wonders if he's funny, so he decides to perform some standup at lunch. Boo, get off the stage! Frankie doesn't appreciate the jokes about her though. Lola gives him a pep talk after his fight with Frankie, and he kisses her! Bad!

Ready or Not

Tiny is on the mend after Damon stabbed him, but Zig blames himself and wants to get back at him. He considers joining the school musical to keep him busy, but Damon just keeps getting in his face. Then trouble finds Maya's house. They brush it off as a regular B&E, because HOW DID THEY MISS THE BANDANA ON THE LAMP!?

Clare and Eli are strictly platonic co-parents. Yeah right. I like them as a couple so much better now. They started out SOOO problematic, but they've both grown. Eli has faced his issues and works hard to stay in control. Clare no longer makes excuses for him.

Winston doesn't want to Lola to star in the play with him due to their kiss. How about HE doesn't star in the play?! Gosh, selfish boy. I hate Winston.

Wishlist

It's the twins' birthday and Frankie couldn't be more excited. At least until her father walks in. Hunter is happy to see him, but she is extremely hesitant to let him back in. But Lola and Shay convince her to milk him for all he's worth. She has the party of her dreams, but then he shows up and gives this sweet speech and gives her the perfect present. Maybe he has changed? Probably not though. He realizes that he's a loser, but he's not going to change.

Zig comes clean about who was behind the Matlin's break-in, and Maya thinks they need to stay quiet so he won't get kicked out. Her mom buys her a spa day to cheer her up, but Maya has no friends to go with. She goes alone and tries to get a refund for the second service, but Zig shows up for her. They're so in love.

Damon starts harassing Imogen and Jack. We get to see Imogen pissed off which is new, and in trouble which is not. Jack doesn't back her up though, so Damon doesn't get in trouble. It's all because she isn't out and didn't want her parents involved. Yikes.

Walking in My Shoes

Zoe is charged with community services before her trial. She has to work in the cafeteria just like Spinner! Now she has to face everyone who hates her and blames her for the new rules. What she needs is a plan to get on their good sides: pass out cellphones with their meals. Needless to say, this was another poorly thought out scheme and she gets caught again.

Frankie got a C! But Lola got a B! She plans to skip play rehearsals to study, but Winston (!!!!) convinces her not to. Her grades are more important right now! She can rehearse later! So she cheats off of Lola and lies about it so they both get 0%. Desperate and awful. She does come clean, which prompts Lola to come clean about the kiss.

Imogen is avoiding Jack, but she wants to know why she's not out. She's not going to force her to come out, which is great, but she hates being the "best friend" instead of girlfriend. She's also disappointed that they can run for Best Couple, because her parents will see the yearbook. And no prom photos.

Get it Together

Becky is worried about her relationship with Jonah because he doesn't seem to want to kiss her. She seeks answers from Imogen (he's gay) and then Google (Christian sex tips), since he's very vague about his reasons. She also discovers porn which is hilarious. I adore Becky. She talks to her mom about it, which is surprising.

Maya is paired with Tristan in gym for Salsa dancing, which does not work out. Zig to the rescue again! He teaches Maya to dance so she won't fail the class. I love Zig. I'm glad they put his personality chip back in this season. Now she just needs to pass the test with Tristan, after clearing the air first.

Clare and Eli babysit for Dallas. It's much harder than they thought. Just like with every teen parent who babysits for a friend. She also freaks out while building the crib, but it's more than that. They talk it out, yay, but then they get bad news during the next ultrasound. The baby has no heartbeat.

Give Me One Reason

Zig and Maya need to figure out what to do about their kiss, and then get caught kissing again by her mother. It could have been worse, but those two need to be careful. Neither wants to disappoint her mom, which is sweet. What's not sweet, is Mrs. Matlin says Zig has to leave if they're going to date. Where is he going to go?!

Clare and Eli have to deal with losing the baby. She simply checks out and drives to New York with Eli. But then he pretends the car died, because he's scared she'll go into labor on the road. He's not wrong. Lots of tears.

Hunter wants to ask out Arlene. Finally. Imogen gives him some tips, but none of them sound like Arlene. But she is hurt when her secret admirer doesn't show up, despite her talking crap about him, not knowing it was Hunter.

I Wanna Be Adored

Alli doesn't know where Clare has been, as she's missing their prom theme presentation. However, she loses to Drew's boat cruise idea. She's mad that her best friend hasn't been there for her during the end of their time together, until Eli tells her what happened.

Zig is moving in with Tiny and Vince, since his mom doesn't want him. BAD PLAN!!!

Tristan starts online dating! He is so desperate for love that he fakes his profile, and now he has to pretend to be that guy. He does come clean during the second date, and it turns out okay. Good for Tristan.

Teen Age Riot

Zig doesn't want to invite Maya over because of the drugs. Good, boy. Well his fears are realized. Kind of. There are drugs, but they do them together and have sex. Woah. Then he does the chivalrous thing and dumps her to protect her. Bad. Oddly, the voice of reason in all this is Vince.

Clare finds out that the new security cameras are also being used to listen in on conversations. That is not okay. Clare being Clare, uses this new information to her advantage. Instead of giving a speech about why she deserves to be valedictorian (isn't this based on grades?!), she tells the entire school that they're being spied on. GO, CLARE!

Frankie and Winston fight during rehearsals. He should have let Lola have the part. Frankie doesn't want to quit though! And she shouldn't have to.

The Kids Aren't Alright (1-2)

Zig learns that Damon was shot that night and he was the getaway driver! Poor Zig. And Maya once again gets roped into covering for a boy, but that's not the real problem here. Vince recruits Zig to get some money owed to him from a student to prove his loyalty. Don't do it, Zig! Of course, he does, because it's hard to get out of that life when he has nowhere else to go. But it gets worse! Damon's crew is going to retaliate...at Degrassi! During the musical! Zig must be the hero! We also get to see another side to Tiny.

Frankie and Winston rekindle their relationship during the musical. Shay tries to talk her out of it, because Shay is smart. But love isn't smart, so Frankie asks Lola to try to kiss him again to prove that he's not a cheater! But Winston is suspicious and plays along, and then confronts Frankie. They are so wrong for each other. This plot was trying to be more deep than it is by paralleling Frankie's parent's divorce, but Winston is just crap.

Drew and Becky are volunteer partners, where he expresses his disapproval of Jonah. Her prom ticket money also gets stolen. She assumes it was Damon, since she had left her purse in his hospital room, but the boy can't walk! Maybe Jonah isn't trustworthy after all? But everyone deserves forgiveness, right?

I love Degrassi musicals.

Finally (1-2)

Connor rules at promposals! And Drew has no date and no ride, since Dallas's limo is full. Their dinner table is also full. Drew won't go down without a fight though! Dallas wants his best friend to have a great night, sooo...what can go wrong? Other than Becky rejecting his promposal? Or Dallas booking the wrong year? Of course, everything works out in the end because this is Degrassi. It's either great or there's a fire.

We see Hunter blow up in class. This boy...clearly something is off with him. But then again, Next Class Season 1...Miles wants to help by getting him his girl! Hunter just wants Miles to leave him alone, but they need each other right now.

Clare is faced with what she wants to do after graduation. She had it all figured out before, but now? No clue. Eli tries to be helpful, but we all know Clare is not that girl who just moves in with her boyfriend and does nothing all day. I do think Eli was being selfish though. Clare has had a rough year and all of her plans were blown to crap. She needs to figure out where she wants to go from here and she doesn't have to default to moving in with the boyfriend!

Imogen gets Jack back! But then has a lame time at prom, because of course Jack is anti-fun.

Don't Look Back (1-4)

Frankie starts an internship at city hall and it gets off to a rough start. The other interns are older and she tries desperately to prove herself to them. Then she gets caught up when one of the interns' girlfriend gets held for ransom.

Zoe is in summer school and is lab partners with Grace. Also off to a rough start. But then Grace tricks her into revealing that she's actually smart. Grace also tricks us into thinking she's queer!

Maya fails the lifeguard training, but she has a backup plan: nanny for a record executive. That doesn't work out either though, because random Gloria gets it. Is this the cheerleader that Zig and Tiny had a bet over? But then she goes missing and I didn't care.

This movie is boring and has nothing to do with anything. Who is Gloria?! Why is this whole special revolved around her?! It makes less sense than Paris.
